Is blogging dead? We tackled this topic on our tweetchat recently. If you missed it, no worries. You can view the recap below. The prevailing opinion seemed to be that blogging isn’t dead, but that is evolving. Different people like to receive content in different ways. Some people like visual and float towards Instagram and Pinterest. Others prefer audio and prefer podcasts. And then there are those who not only want to see you, but hear you as well. That’s where vlogging comes into play.
It can seem rather daunting to not only keep up a blog, but to manage social media as well. But the trick is to figure out what your audience wants and give it to them, even if it may be outside of your comfort zone. Also, people want a pleasant and rewarding experience when they visit your blog. They don’t necessarily want to be bombarded with a lot of clutter and ads. We get it, ads pay the bills. We’ll discuss that another day. Back to the point.
When you’re blogging, keep your audience in mind and share on platforms that fit your audience’s needs. Also keep in mind that you need your own platform. You don’t own Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube…well you get the point. On any given day any of these platforms can be gone in an instant. That’s why it is important that you have your own spot to post your content. Social media is just the means you need to spread your message to a wider audience.
